This problem is surely affecting ABLETON LIVE users because midi file are exported from Ableton with minimum midi information : they lack SET TEMPO Midi message info messages, and channels information as well.
As an ableton user here ‘s my method to have all midi sync to audio track at any tempo
-> export midi clip (clips in my case as I use several channels)
-> load into a midi dedicated applciation like AriaMaestosa (free and easy to use)
-> bundle in one track by copy pasting all midi clip in one track that will be exported as an SMF0.
-> Manually edit the channel
-> Last but not least : Define the tempo of the song (note that tempo information is not contained in the intial midi clip exported from Ableton.)
A quick tool I use to check the content of the midi file (tempo, channels etc..) is called “midi kit”.
I end up with 100% sync Midi clips with audio, as they intially are when creating in Ableton.
I hope this will help some users and let you win some time ; )
