Unfortunately you cannot control the device with midi commands. Both device has option to use footswitch or the uTrack24/uTrack-X32 remote controllable with uRemote.

– I’m setting up a new IEM rig and for that I’m going to buy a Berhinger X32 rack. What’s the main difference between the uTrack24 and the uTrack X32 ? in terms of performance etc. are those exactly the same device ?

For recording they will provide you the same performance and features just different channel count.
The uTrack24 has option for redundancy too.

For playback the uTrack24 has their own UI and control buttons, and the same feature available only on uRemote on the uTrack-X32. The uTrack-X32 has no midi support.
The uTrack24 has option for redundancy too.
