well as it turned out i checked through my Browser history and found a number of IP addresses – the following IP got me to the Audiolan set-up page

169.254.117.0

….if someone could please just tell me where in the support material this is documented – it will go a long way to satisfy my now morbid curiosity after struggling with this all day …..
