Output attenuation but why no input attenuation ?

You really get the clipping at the input or is it just your guesses?
The lack of adjustment of the input level is alarming to me. I have a negative experience with the Zoom R16 when recording a signal with analog mixers (direct out).. There was often clipped. I do not want to change one another, and ultimately get the same problem.
