ParticipantHello,
I use the LP16 since a few months, both as standalone and as a soundcard, and I have just bought a second one.
So I can say that I like it 😉But there is also room for some improvements that will optimize or extend their capabilities a lot.
Here is a list of whishes, and I hope that some of them will be feazible.Multichannel files.
Actually, the LP16 needs multiple separate files to play in multichannel.
It will be nice to support also multichannel interleaved files, that will be both easier (at least for me) to organize and also faster to read from slow USB drives.Random order playlist.
Actually, unless I am mistaken, only stereo files can be played in random order.
Perhaps that if you support multichannel files, it will be easier to support also this mode for them ?Two devices on one computer.
I know that actually only one unit can be used (and I have verified !).
Could this limit be removed some day ? Even is there is no way to synchronize them, it will be extremely useful to be able to run 2 (or more ?) LP-16 in one computer like with other USB soundcards.MIDI sync.
Could it be possible to think of a way to synchronize two units in standalone mode with MIDI ?
Or at least to send transport controls from one to another ?18 outputs in standalone.
Actually, the phone outputs are only available in interface mode.
Could they be also available in standalone or is there something that makes it impossible ?Thanks a lot for this wonderful product, and I hope to be able to work on some of theses requests.

ParticipantThank you for your input. Could you please be kind enough to tell us a little about how you are using the LP-16 and how these requests would improve your working environment?

ParticipantI will try (sorry for my bad english).
My main use is for multichannel electroacoustic installations, and less often for performances.
The LP-16 simply replaces a computer with soundcards, making it simpler to run and more reliable when used with non specialized people or for a long time (which is often the case with installations).
Since I work rarely with smaller setups than 16 channels, I have yet to use computers, with 3 or 4 8 channels USB cards, or an old firewire M-Audio Lightbridge with 4 ADAT converters, which is far from being ideal !
The 18 analog outputs of the LP-16 is much appreciated, and using 2 units “manually sync” can be an improvement. I have to test it.
But it is hardly possible with playlists or long works.I know that I could use 2 uTracks 24, but they lack simple analog outputs, and the price is not the same (one would not be enough, and two would be too much) !
Since I don’t need the inputs, the LP-16 is ideal for me. I have even run it with a small 12v battery in the fields without problem.
So being able to use the 2 units together, either in standalone mode or with a small laptop will be very nice for me…Best regards.

ParticipantHello,
i just bought an LP-16, for the same purpose than Pierre, long term sound installations.
This device is really useful for that, no need any more for a dedicated computer.I really would like to see implemented some functions i miss badly :
– auto play when turned on, with the settings used when turned off.
With that function, the people who turn on the installation every morning just have to power it on and it goes in loop mode for the day.
– loop play for multi-tracks songs.
– and yes, syncing, if more than 16 tracks are needed.Thank you.

KeymasterHi Pablo,
Thank you for your input.
The loop playback for multitrack songs working with playlist. You just need to put the song(s) into the playlist with “no delay” or “wait for timer” start mode.
The sync not possible because there’s no dedicated sync or network connector on the unit. All feature what you requested already available in uTrack24.

ParticipantThanks for your answer.
I said loop play for multi tracks song because when turning on the device if you press play directly, a MT song start.
So if it was possible to set it loop, just one button to press to run it for a day. ,-)
In playlist mode it is maybe 4 buttons to press before it is ready. The simpler the better for installations.9th December 2015 at 20:17 #26639roger
