    Hello,

I have bought two different USB3 thumb drives (cause they should be fast, right) for my LP-16 but neither will format or work giving “not supported” error. If USB3 thumb drives are not supported, it would have been great if that was noted in the manual. If it is, my apologies for not being able to read 🙂

    Hi Kristo,

The USB 3 drives are supported.
You need to make sure the firmware are up to date on your LP-16. The current version 83934. You can check the firmware version during the boot process.
Can you please specify the USB drive brand/type?
Did you tried to format that drive on your PC/MAC to FAT32 then format the drive with your LP-16?

Hello, thanks for your response! First thing I did was to update the firmware – still the same issue – When I connect the USB key the device will enter “MT USB device test” that runs what seems for ages. Did not time it but minute or more. Then there will be the “Disk Error! This memory device is not supported, please remove it” and after a while it will change to “wrong file system please reformat Format USB device?” And when I try to Format I get the “Disk Error!… ” once again. I bought the Kingston DTSE9 G2 32GB drive and Kingston DT micro 3.1 64GB drives that are made of metal and look very durable. They work fine with the computer. Formatting on a computer does not make any difference.

    Thank you for your feedback.
Can you please try what happens if you have the drive already connected then you turning on the LP-16?
Do you experiencing the same issue in this case as well?

    Hey Laszlo!
I have the same problem: newest firmware on the LP16, then everything works the same way as Kristo describes!
With one exception: the usb-device even doesnt work on the laptop anymore – and neither the LP16 nor the Laptop are able to format the device or reset or whatever!

And I tried to connect the device and after than turning on the LP-16 – still the same Error message

    Hi Thomas,

Its a normal 32gb usb-stick, I think from Intenso but i am not sure.
Why does it matter? I think it should work with every usb-device or not?

    Yes it should.
But as the manufacturers using different controllers inside of the USB devices it would be nice to know which brand and type has this problem in this case we can buy that type for testing purpose then we can confirm and fix the issue if there any.

There is no brand name on it, just the name of the shop!

    What should i do now?
should i send the cymatic-device back? I dont want to loose even more usb-devices?!?!?

    Hi Thomas,

Fully understand your concern, but that is very unusual case where some USB drive not working with our device.
If you buy a regular USB stick like Sandisk Ultra Fit; Sandisk Cruzer Fit; Transcend JetFlash those should work with no problem. There’s no advantage to use USB 3.0 drive because the LP-16 has USB 2.0 interface so you can even use USB 2.0 drives as well. The speed of the USB 2.0 drive more than enough for playback purpose.
But if you decide to go with USB 3.0 standard (because of the faster exporting speed from uTool) go with the Sandisk Ultra Fit we have a pretty good experiences with this drives.
I am also sure your current USB drives are not broken, only the partition deleted or improper currently. That is the reason why the windows cannot mount the drive. If you install on your PC some partition managing app you will able to repair the partition.
