I have Behringer X32 mixers and would like to record to say, the U24 directly from the USB port. Is this a possibility or am I thinking in the wrong direction?

I would like to stay digital throughout avoiding the analogue in/outs.

Thank you for any help on this

    Dear foodradio,
Unfortunately this wont be possible. I am not 100% familiar with the X32 but I suppose the USB port on the X32 can be used to connect it to a PC/Mac in order to use it as a USB interface.

The good news is that we are soon releasing a MADI card for the uTrack 24 (Q2) and since there is also a MADI card for the X32 this might be an option for you if you want to avoid the analogue ins/outs.

Than you Sven, the MADI card would almost certainly be the answer. When do you think this will be available?

Thanks for the information, I shall wait patiently for this and hopefully get my system up and running. The X32 rack mixer and U24 in a portable rack case will be a powerful combination.

    Hello Sven,

Any other cards to be releases besides the Madi card?

    Hi,
There will most likely be additional digital add-on cards for the uTrack 24. We haven’t decided on which digital I/O card to do next – we will decide based on market requirements. What digital format are you looking for?

First thing that comes to mind is ADAT Lightpipe.

I have an X32 and I am looking for live record system. If I install Madi card for X32 and purchase the U24 with a Madi card, it looks like I am good to go.
The question I have is: Is there a matrix or function to tell the U24 what channels I want to use of X32 and to which tracks?
Have not used Madi, so I am newbie. I have been using the default card that comes standard with X32 and have multi tracked to 32 channels on Mac using a DAW. Since U24 is only 24 tracks, there must be away to assign channels to tracks.

In the settings menu you shall be able to choose uTrack inputs which are combined into blocks of 8. Each of the three 8 block uTrack inputs(1-8, 9-16. 17-24) can be assigned to either their respective analog inputs or any of the digital Madi input blocks (1-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32, 33-40, 41-48, 49-56, 57-64)

I was told by one of your reps that you are working on a recording card for X-32.
Not sure if you are willing to answer this, but I have to ask: Is that correct?
I certainly would vote for such a product and bet that there are many others out there that would welcome it as well!

I am an X32 user and posed some questions a couple of months ago. I was told soon that they were coming out with a MADI card for Cymatic u24.
So when they roll that out, you would need to purchase a MADI card for X32, presently they provide by default a firewire/USB card.
So I figure to get u24+Madi and X32 Madi card, cost to us is around(not knowing street cost of Cymatic Madi card) would be $1650

When will the MIDI function be out?????

Yes, I figured kind of the same bsanderson.
Though there is something to be said for having the flexibility to being able to use the uTrack with other consoles as well, whereas an option card for X32 would tie the recording capability down to the one console.
Therefore I guess it comes down to the price point our Cymatic friends would put on their X32 specific solution.
32ch recording will probably need more expensive components, though there would be significant savings for not having to need a cabinet, displays for a slot-in card. I was therefore kind of hoping that a 32ch recording solution for X32 would cost around the same as a uTrack now.
(but not being a commercial guy, I wouldn’t know if that would make any sense…..)

Though the silence on this subject is kind of deafening from the cymatic camp. No comment whatsoever?

FOH, you could purchase the DB25 snakes in XLR or 1/4. They run about $40, and give you 8 Channels. But that would allow you to connect it to any analog or digital boards via direct outs, etc. I do know some digital consoles do not have direct outs for each input, which could be a challenge.

You are right Bsanderson, but as much as people talk about the digitital consoles and as much as they indeed are increasing in numbers, I also still see quite a few (fine!) analog beasts around. hmm…. in the end, no easy answer i guess .
But let’s see what happens in the coming months.

    Hi,

There shall be a uTrack24 firmware update sometime end of this month, early July time frame. Midi functionality shall be one of the features included with this firmware update. Sorry for the long delay regarding this.
