Breaking Band
ParticipantHi, I’m trying to update the firmware to my LP- 16 with my Mac but your application doesn’t see the device.
So I’m not able to update the firmware in order to use it.
I attach two pictures:
The first one is when I open the application with the device connected
The second one is what appears when I turn on the LP16
Can you please help me as soon as possible?
I have an important gig tonight!6th October 2017 at 16:40 #28973Laszlo
Keymaster
Hi,
This error message means some of the other applications using your device then this blocks the update process.
Most of the times the users who experienced the same issue it had Native instruments application installed on the computer and that application blocks the update.
It seems if the user force to close all of the running apps on the MAC that helps to free up the USB driver in this cause the updater starting properly.
Please follow this instructions:
0. Reboot your MAC, leave the LP-16 connected
1. Please find and start the “Automator” app in your launchpad.
2. Choose the “Application” in the Automator
3. In the search field type “quit” then select “Quit All Applications”
4. Make sure the “Ask to save changes” checkbox selected
5. Command + S –> or “File” -> “Save” name your application “Quit all applications”
6. Run that Quit all apps then start the USB updater
6th October 2017 at 17:26 #28974Breaking Band

KeymasterWhat is your OS version?
Let’s try slightly differently.
Please follow this instructions:
0. Reboot your MAC, leave the LP-16 connected but turn it off.
7. Turn on the LP-166th October 2017 at 17:45 #28977Breaking Band

KeymasterDoes your LP-16 shows “USB interface mode [MAC]” on the screen?
Are you removed the USB drive from the front panel?
Do you see the LP-16 connected successfully on the “Audio Midi Settings” on your MAC?6th October 2017 at 17:53 #28979Breaking Band
ParticipantEverything YES!

KeymasterOk, have no idea what’s going on.
I think the easiest solution if you update the firmware using Windows computer. –> You need to install the driver first.
Or try on another MACSorry for the inconveniences.

ParticipantI got the install to work on MacBook Pro by:
1) Open ‘Activity Monitor’ app on Mac
2) Kill any ‘Native Instruments’ applications/processes running (I think mine was Native Access but not sure now can’t remember)
3) Kill the ‘Audio MIDI Setup.app’ program/process.
4) try install the firmware update now (if the installer isn’t registering anything (ie. it says ‘No Device Connected’), then take the USB cable out of the Mac & plug back in immediately, this should detect the correct update to install. If the ‘Start Update’ button is greyed out then take the USB cable out & plug back in AGAIN and it should become available.Hope this helps the several people in this forum I’ve noticed who gave up/ might not have resolved this problem still.

ParticipantNo problem Laszlo 🙂 I can’t verify 100% if the Audio MIDI Setup.app was actually part of the problem of not… but the take away here is to use the Activity Monitor app 😉 Cheers!

ParticipantThank you very much Greg i had the same problem few days ago and i gave up. Now i need to try this method, i hope it works in my macbook pro.
Does anyone still has the same problem?4th May 2019 at 01:12 #48144Amon Barth
ParticipantYeah, thanks Greg Turner!!
That solved the problem… I closed 3 or 4 NI processes (first i overlooked one, and was quite frustrated, that it still did not work… but after force-quitting all the NI processes, it worked!)
1) Open ‘Activity Monitor’ app on Mac
2) Kill any ‘Native Instruments’ applications/processes running (I think mine was Native Access but not sure now can’t remember) - AuthorPosts
