ParticipantI have a midi track created in Studio One 4. I can output the automation on it through a Roland UM-1 into my Axe Fx and change programs, and control every aspect of the program perfectly. I recorded everything on channel 3, and the Axe Fx is set to channel 3. Oddly in looking at the saved SMF in Sonar Platinum, the event inspector says channel 1 is the channel. So, I changed my Axe Fx to channel 1 – the file still does not send info to the Axe Fx. If I long press the stop button, I can see midi connectivity from LP-16 to Axe Fx. But, there is no blinking circle on the LP-16 from start to finish, and there’s a fair amount of automation on the midi file. Any help is greatly appreciated – Thanks, shep

ParticipantI set up midi in as thru and hooked up the midi out of my DAW to it. The LP sends the file through just fine. It just won’t play it inside a song.

ParticipantAnd, the song file length is 48 minutes long. Track runs under 4 minutes in DAW.

ParticipantI figured the song length out, no longer an issue. But, this song as a 4 click count in, and a 1 bar drum intro. I set the song to have about 1 second before the click counts in. I’m guessing the midi track starts right at bar one beat one, so it’s off by a lot – more than the +/- 1000ms offset. I’m kinda lost how to make these files line up. I have a lot of files that are this way…

ParticipantI ended up flying the midi track into Sonar Platinum. Added the Program Changes Studio One 4 kept dropping when saving the file. Turned it into a groove clip in SPlat. I then flew the audio into it, and exported both files. Timing and automation AT LAST. Very disappointed in S1 4’s midi. For a very old tech, Studio One dropped the ball imho.

Participant1) Do you have the exact same song length and midi file length? It must match.
2) I always start at absolute zero and send my 1st program change there, so there’s a midi event at the audio files’ 1st beat. This is what my problem usually came down to, usually. Show some pics of what you have if this doesn’t fix it for you. I will be around tonight. I have 40 tunes done up for live use. Best of luck, Shep

ParticipantDid you figure out how to make it work?

KeymasterHi John,
The midi file don’t need to be on the same length like the audio files.
The longest file length will be your final song length no matter is this the midi or the wav.
Please send the midi file to support_at_cymaticaudio.com I’ll take a look at the file.
Is the firmware up to date on your LP-16? Current version 8395821st September 2018 at 12:10 #41696John Shepherd
ParticipantI find that odd, because every time it’s not, the timing is off between midi events and audio, and I’ve seen the same statement by another here. The other thing about them being different lengths is in getting them to export. I get an error every time. I am on current version. I have no issues at this point, its Roger who’s struggling.

Where did you saw that? Can you please send me the link?
Is the midi offset is zero in the midi settings in LP-16?
And please send me the midi file as well.21st September 2018 at 15:12 #41700John Shepherd
ParticipantHonestly, I don’t recall where here I saw it, but am certain I did because it was that info that got my files to transfer, load and play. It was when I first got my LP-16. I also add a midi note my modules don’t respond to at the start of the song and end of the song if there’s nothing at the end to ensure the length is the same.

KeymasterActually if you prefer that way we can talk about it, but it would be much easier quicker if you could send me at least one midi file (I have ask that 2 times already)

ParticipantI work just fine like this. I don’t consider that I have a ‘problem. I only chimed in because Roger Davis was having a problem. Thanks anyway, sir.

ParticipantThanks John Shepherd , I have managed to work things out , you pointed in the right direction. It’s about making the start point at beat 1111. Having issues now with making a playlist work!! songs and midi work just fine on their own , just wont play in a playlist!! arrrgh
