ParticipantAs I understand we have just one repository for the actual audio files (i.e .wavs in AudioLib) and also one repository for the Multitrack definition (Mute, Pan, Vol, etc) of a (Multi)SONG (in uTool Projects / Songlib / uTool24 / songname.songprj). In here I have all tracks of all musicians of the band. i.e. drums, vocals, background, bass etc.
When having a Live gig, I setup a Playlist “LIVE” and mute all tracks where I have musicians for on stage, so only a few tracks are being played like Orchestra, Synth and such.
Now what do I have to do to create another Playlist for just rehearsal, where sometimes the bass player has no time to show up and being substituted by uTrack24, or the guitarist and so on.
Because if I just create a new playlist for this very instance, I tamper also with the original “LIVE” setup when muting or unmuting various tracks, as there is only ONE description of the Song/Tracks.
So how can the songprj files be duplicated for more flexibility for various situations as describes above?31st January 2016 at 21:56 #26783Michael O’Hara
ParticipantMaybe I can help here. I have all of my songs ready to add to a playlist. I have a Live Show playlist and a Rehearsal playlist. I actually have songs that have “RV” in the title so I know that is a Rehearsal Version of the Song. So you’d create another version of the song essentially with the tracks needed or not needed and just label it accordingly. With the iPad control you can also go in and mute items. I believe they are working on a firmware update for another database. Hope that helps. I’m hoping some kind of “News” or “Timeline” will be announced since the last firmware update is from almost 4 months ago…. Yikes.

ParticipantThis is interesting. Let me see if I understand you correctly:
You do create 2 (or more) versions of each song, one as a standard song name and one with RV in the song name. Then you create for your LIVE gig a playlist using the “standard” songs and then you create another playlist for rehearsal by using the other song name with RV in it, so the song definitions don’t get messed up.
mmmh, that seems like an acceptable workaround. Of course, better would be if the song definitions can also be stored within the playlist definition,. So you create just different playlists according to your requirement and having just one set of Multitrack Songs.
But thanks for the idea anyway – appreciate your quick help31st January 2016 at 22:27 #26785Michael O’Hara
ParticipantSo your talking more about a Playlist that automatically mutes or un-mutes certain tracks as a “Global” standard or stored settings? Because every time you save a song in Utool…. it remembers your mixer settings… That’s why I prefer having actual different song names for the same song…. Example – NoBass-TomSawyer, NoKeys-TomSawyer, NoDrums-TomSawyer, Full-TomSawyer… Using one set of multitracks. More work though.
