ParticipantHi,
Is it possible to pan out tracks in the built in mixer in uTool? The pan sliders within the utool mixer seems to be greyed out for some reason. I imported mono tracks converted from stereo and would like to have these panned 100% left and right respectively.

KeymasterIn the mixer you can see the multitrack (16 mono) output of your LP-16. The panning not possible on mono channels, because the source files are also mono.
If you wanted to use multitrack mode for playing back stereo files, you need to split the stereo song to two mono channel eg. with Audacity. When you assign this files to 2 multitrack channel you will have Left and Right channel output.4th August 2015 at 22:22 #26323Husmas
ParticipantHow so? I think I allready split stereo files into mono and uploaded into a multitrack song? (is the multitrack song setting capable of playing multitrack stereo files or just 2 channels?)
I seem to be able to upload a stereo source file to “stereo songs” where as in “multitrack songs” when I select a folder with stereo and mono files, I only see the mono files in the utool browser?
This might very well be an error 40, in which case I apologize!Original problem: mono files that won’t pan. As you say, the source is mono, so that might very well be the problem.
As I understand your answer, this is where I should be able to upload stereo files, alas, only the mono files show:

KeymasterYou add and export stereo files without splitting up manually. You can use the stereo option in the uTool, then export the song. In this case you need the LP-16 to switch to Stereo mode (with the mode key). The device will split to two channel than play out the song on two channels. You can select the default play out channels in the LP-16 menu.

ParticipantOkay. Does this mean I can have 8 stereo tracks per song?

KeymasterIn stereo mode, you’ll have 2 channels, in multitrack mode, you have 16 channel (2×8 mono)

ParticipantHi Husmus,
To answer your first question, panning of individual tracks is not allowed in LP-16. What you hear from the stereo head phone output is only a mono downmix (on both L and R) of all the channels. As Laszlo also said earlier, the line outs themselves are all mono outputs. Hence the option is greyed out in the uTool. Remember that the Mixer inside the uTool, is a Direct Out mixer. Changing the levels of a track with this mixer also affects the actual output on the line outs.
About the second question, a multitrack song, should contain only mono wave files. You cannot place any stereo wave files inside a multitrack song. So you cannot place 8 stereo wave files inside a multitrack.
Apart from the multitrack mode, the LP-16 has another mode (stereo mode) where it can playback ONE stereo song at a time. This single stereo song can be played back on any 2 consecutive channels on the line out. The Left will go out on the first channel and the Right will go out on the second channel. The output channels in stereo mode can be changed in the settings menu.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion.
