ParticipantHi
I am currently looking for a rack mount 24 track hard disk recorder and stumbled upon this interesting looking product you have (u24). The main thing I cannot see that it does (which I need) is to synchronise (as a slave) to my midi sequencer that outputs MTC and midi clock. Obviously I could purchase some kind of converter if necessary.
I’m assuming that like your other devices, this is geared more towards live use with no song synchronisation to external sources (such as a midi sequencer) ?
Other than this question, the u24 looks perfect for what I need, so I just had to check! ๐
Would really appreciate your clarification on this please ….Thanks11th February 2015 at 21:56 #25762Karl Bates
ParticipantThis is what the manual says;
Internal: The uTrack 24 will run off its own internal sample clock; you are free to select from four different sample rates to run the internal clock at. When running from the internal clock, the settings bar will display โIntโ to reflect this internal clock setting.
Wordclock: The uTrack 24 will slave to an external word clock signal that is connected to the โword clock inโ BNC connector on the rear panel.
When using an external clock, the settings bar will display โExtโ to reflect this setting. However, If you have selected external clock in the settings menu, but no valid external clock is actually connected to the word clock input connector, the โExtโ label will flash on and off, to reflect that the clock signal is missing and no recording will be allowed to take place. If you try to record when the unit is set to external clock, but no clock source is connected, no recording will take place. Instead the following message will temporarily appear11th February 2015 at 22:18 #25763Andy Wilson
ParticipantHey, thanks very much for replying. ๐
I was actually talking about midi clock that synchronizes the transport (as in play, stop etc) …not sample clock.
It appears that the Cymatic can’t synchronize it’s transport with other sequencers etc, which is probably why the manual doesn’t mention it.
I’ve since purchased a different product on the strength of that.
But anyway, thanks again for your reply.Cheers

ParticipantI have the same problem. Which product did you buy instead?

ParticipantI haven’t, as I’m the Pro Audio Sales Manager for the UK distributor I used both the LPL16, LR16 and the UTrack24.
All work really well, plus now there has been another firmwear update, plus the UTrack24 will have the digital I/O card.Attachments:9th June 2015 at 11:59 #26119Alexander Breuer-Roelke
ParticipantObviously I was asking “phormz” what alternative he bought. ๐
The firmware update for MIDI is still not out. There is NO (!) Midi functionality right now. It’s ridiculous!
It “shall” come beginning of July. But it was already promised for the beginning of this year (last year)!
Strange thing that it’s working in the LP-16…. and digital I/O sounds great, but it does not solve the MIDI problem…. ๐ - AuthorPosts
