I was recently made aware of the LP-16 as a very good device to use on live stage with pre-recorded backing tracks. I would prefer a rack mounted device though, and was wondering if the uTrack 24 operated the same as the LP-16, but in a rack configuration with more track access. I’m not currently interested in using the uTrack24 for anything more than live performance backing tracks, and possibly adding a foot switch to advance songs. What are the differences between these two units for this specific application?
Well, the main differences with the LP-16 are:
– Playback 24 instead of 16 tracks
– Rack mounted
– Recording 24 tracks
– Master-slave possibility (two uTracks playing simultaneously
for redundancy reasons)
– More interfacing options instead of only analog in/out (AudioLan, MADI, etc.) with option cards.
For me the rack mount and possibility to use different interfacing was the go for me to take the uTrack instead of LP-16.
